LED Lighting with Circadian Upgrade
Franke at Seaside in Mt. Pleasant S.C is a non-profit Lutheran continuing care retirement community offering memory care services for residents. Having a well-lit facility is critical both to ensure a high standard of care and to provide a high-quality experience for residents and their families during a difficult time of life. The management of Franke at Seaside realized the old fluorescent lighting in the memory care wing was not meeting those goals and asked Lumenant to retrofit that part of the building with long-lasting LEDs. They also opted to upgrade to Circadian Lighting which has multiple health benefits, including regulating circadian rhythms, improving mood and increasing energy throughout the day.

As you can see from the photos above. The change in the light levels is dramatic. The picture on the left with outdated fluorescents, created dark spots, which can fool the eyes of older residents causing them to fall.
The picture on the right is after the installation of LED lights. The lighting on the floor is both now brighter and more uniform with no dark spots. The walls are also well lit creating a more appealing environment. These fixtures should last 15 years and dramatically reduce both the energy usage and maintenance cost in comparison to their old lighting.
